🧦 Socktober is Back — Join Us for Our 4th Annual Socktober! 🧦

It’s that cozy time of year again — Socktober has arrived at Cashmere Goat, and we couldn’t be more excited! Whether you’re a seasoned sock knitter or just curious about dipping your toes (literally!) into the world of handmade socks, this is the perfect opportunity to get inspired, build skills, and connect with fellow makers.

This year marks our 4th annual Socktober Knit Along, and we’re thrilled to welcome both our Local Goats and our Remote Goats to join in the fun. No matter where you’re knitting from, you’re invited to be part of the Socktober community!

We’ll be hosting optional meet-ups throughout October, both in the shop and online, so you can gather with fellow sock-makers, share your progress, and ask questions along the way. These casual hangouts are a great way to stay motivated, swap tips, and see what others are working on — because let’s face it, there are so many ways to make a sock! And crafty folks love to learn new skills, right?

Speaking of which, if you're brand new to sock knitting, never fear! Socktober is a welcoming space for all skill levels — we’ve got you covered with beginner-friendly patterns, step-by-step (the puns are really too easy!) video tutorials, and other resources to support you. You’re never too new (or too experienced!) to enjoy the cozy magic of a handmade sock.

🎁 What You’ll Get When You Sign Up:
When you register for Socktober, you’ll receive a welcome email packed with juicy details, including:

  • Info about in-store and virtual meet-ups

  • A special discount code to use on yarn, sock books, kits, and patterns

  • Tips on choosing the right sock project for your style and skill level

🧶 Socktober = Choose Your Own Adventure!
One of the best things about making socks is that there are so many choices for how to construct and customize them. You can choose:

  • Toe-up or top-down

  • Plain or patterned

  • Ribbed, striped, scrappy, or cabled

  • Colorful or neutral

  • Shortie, ankle, crew, or knee-high

Last Socktober, we polled our Local and Remote Goats for their favorite go-to sock patterns and we’ve organized those recommendations into a few Ravelry Bundles: Top-Down Vanilla Socks, Toe-Up Vanilla Socks, Favorite Textured Socks, and Favorite Colorwork Socks. If you’re looking for a new pattern, start browsing these Goat Favorites!

And let’s not forget about crochet! We’ve also curated a selection of cozy crocheted sock and slipper patterns, perfect for makers who prefer a hook to needles.

What Counts as a Sock?

Socktober isn’t just about socks (well, not only). You can knit or crochet anything that goes on your feet — classic socks, baby booties, chunky slippers, felted house shoes, or even a festive Christmas stocking! The goal is simple: make something foot-friendly that brings you joy.

So grab your favorite needles (or hooks), pick your yarn, and join us for a month of socktastic fun. Whether you’re knitting your very first pair or casting on your twentieth, there’s something for everyone in Socktober.

Ready to sign up? Visit our Knit Along page or stop by the shop to get started. Let’s make this our coziest Socktober yet! 🧦💕
