Frequently Asked Questions

Sport weight yarn is officially classified as #2 (Fine), and you might also find it referred to as 5-ply yarn.

Sock-weight yarn is typically knitted or crocheted on US size 3 to 5 (3.25mm - 3.75mm), which you’ll find in our collection of knitting needles. 

However, make sure you check needle recommendations on your chosen pattern and always check your gauge to be sure you have the correct size needles.

Sport weight is slightly thinner and lighter than a standard DK (Double Knitting) yarn. While DK yarn is a #3 Light weight, sport weight is a #2 Fine weight, making it the better choice for lightweight transitional clothing, spring shawls, and delicate colorwork that requires a less bulky fabric.

We guarantee it won't happen, as our team visually matches and pulls your entire order from the exact same dye lot. In the rare event that our stock is split between lots, we will email you to confirm before shipping, so your sweater never has an accidental color line in the middle of it.
