Longmont Yarn Shoppe Presents: Fiberside Chats

Join Live Online Chats with Some of Fiber's Most Exciting Creators

Cashmere Goat has Partnered with Longmont Yarn Shoppe in Colorado to bring you these fun and informative online gatherings. Come join us!

We’ve invited some of your favorite designers and creators to join us for a series of online gatherings with Longmont Yarn Shoppe & our group of 47 collaborating Yarn Shops across North America. We call these:  Fiberside Chats!

Launched in May 2020, Chats are one-hour Zoom sessions with special guests joining us to give a peek into their world. These designers & creators will discuss their unique path, creative processes, favorite techniques, latest projects, or whatever is inspiring them now. There will be opportunity for Q&A & other fun surprises like giveaways & pattern discounts for those who join!

Fees & Registration

Your seat at Fiberside Chats is just $20. This fee supports the guest speaker & the LYS you sign up under. At the registration page you can choose to purchase your ticket from any of the shops listed.

Have a conflict in your schedule? Don't worry we've got you covered. The majority of our guests allow Zoom recordings of their Chat. Whether the Chat will be recorded or not will be clearly stated for each event. Recordings will be available for 1 week after the chat, only to registered attendees.

Please be aware that registration for Fiberside Chats closes 1.5 hours before the scheduled start time. The Zoom Link will be emailed to registered attendees the evening before and again the morning of the Chat.

Fiberside Chats: Hazel Tindall January 4, 2026

Fair Isle Yokes - the Shetland way!

From the early 1960s to the mid-1970s, garments featuring Fair Isle yokes were knitted in Shetland and exported by the thousands. After a lull, these distinctive designs have once again gained popularity—though production today is far smaller than it was 50 years ago. Despite the changing times, the traditional construction methods remain the same. Join legendary Shetland knitter Hazel Tindall for an in-depth look at Fair Isle yokes and how their construction results in a comfortable fit. Register now for this virtual journey to Shetland to kick off the New Year with Hazel Tindall!

Bio:
Hazel Tindall
was born and brought up in Shetland and has spent most of her adult life there. She has no memory of learning to knit, but does remember learning to read. She knitted her first all over Fair Isle cardigan before her 12th birthday. Throughout her teenage years, she hand knitted Fair Isle yokes on to machine knitted bodies. Hazel firmly believes that the "old ways are the best ways". She designs and knits jumpers (sweaters) and cardigans, usually Fair Isle, but very occasionally lace. Occasionally she writes knitting patterns.

This is a live Zoom Event on Sunday, January 4th at 1:00pm EST, 12:00pm CST, 11:00am MST, 10:00am PST. 6:00pm GMT

This Fiberside Chat will be recorded - a link to the recording will be available for one week and shared with registered attendees only.

Explore New & Unique Crochet Stitches with Lena Fedotova!

Join crochet designer and stitch creator Lena to see how new crochet stitches appear - and why!
What happens when familiar stitches are no longer enough? New yarns behave differently, new colorways need new solutions, and new shapes ask for new structures and this is where inspiration happens.

In this talk, Lena shares how she creates new stitches and how small technical choices can change the whole fabric. She will show some of the techniques from her book, New Ways with Crochet, and how you can use them in your own projects.
You don't want to miss this Chat where we'll explore fresh ways of thinking about crochet and discover it from a new angle!

Lena Fedotova creates new crochet stitches and techniques, which then find their way into her designs: sweaters, shawls, and accessories.
Her patterns are full of inspiration, with ways to modify an item, explore a stitch in new ways, and experiment with color.
She especially enjoys working with complex yarn colorways and discovering how to make them work beautifully in crochet.
At the heart of her work is a simple goal: to create harmony, with designs that are calm, balanced, and easy to wear.
