Weighing in on Tariffs
This is a subject that has been everywhere lately. Frankly, I’d rather be knitting than thinking about tariffs, but here we are. What does this mean to small businesses like the Cashmere Goat? I know that some prices are going up marginally, and others may be up a significant amount. Some prices are remaining the same. It’s all over the place. This is frustrating, but I am feeling confident in most of my stock being available with a 10% or less increase in prices. This is a constantly evolving issue, and it is impossible to know everything. I am listing the specifics that I do know at the bottom of this blog.
All of that being said, the Cashmere Goat remains a strong, vibrant business with a growing, loyal community of customers, and an amazing staff that customers, and I rely on daily. If you are reading this, then you are likely a part of that community, and I thank you so much for your continued support. We do all that we do because you make it possible by shopping with us.
Price increases will be implemented starting mid/ late May as new stock arrives. Current pricing reflects our pre-tariff pricing.
This is all subject to change at any time.
Happy crafting,
Here is a list of price increases
-
Malabrigo - All yarns will see a 3% increase starting May 20th.
-
Berroco, West Yorkshire Spinners, Lang Yarns, Wool Addicts, & Lopi - These Yarns will see some increases in the 10% range, but some will be deferred until later in the year. They are taking a thoughtful approach instead of blanket increases.
-
Knitting Fever & Euro Yarns which includes Noro, Juniper Moon Farms, Queensland, Mirasol, Ella Rae, Jody Long, Louisa Harding, Laines du Nord & Lykke - There are no changes for these yarns yet, we do expect that it is coming but prices are steady as of now.
-
Seven Sisters Arts - Small increase that was happening before the tariffs.
-
Clover - 10% increase on June 1st.
- KnitPro - 3.5% Increase mid-May.
- Mindful - 7% increase mid-May.
These ones are going to hurt a bit
-
ChiaoGoo - These are made in China and we are expecting a 15% increase at least and we expect to hear exactly how much on May 15th.
-
Della Q - These prices are up as of earlier this month. We just received our last shipment that was ordered before the price changes. The current store price on these items is the pre tariff pricing and it will last until they are sold. The price increases on della Q are in the 15-20% range.
-
Cocoknits - These items are all made in China. I have not heard anything about price increases but I believe they are inevitable.
This is subject to change with little or no notice.
