Welcome to the new Cashmere Goat

      My name is Kristin and it was with great joy that I purchased the Cashmere Goat at the end of September 2020. The store had announced over the summer that they would be shutting down, and with that news I immediately sent an email to the former owner, with high hopes that my long time dream of owning a yarn store would finally come true. I had worked at both Unique One and Over The Rainbow Yarn, and I must confess to harboring the desire to have my own yarn shop. In between those 2 yarn store jobs I owned a store, The Video Shop, in Union, ME. and it has long since gone the way of all video stores.

     Well, dreams do come true! It was with lots of work and effort and no small thanks to Barbara the former owner and Misty the former manager that I am here today. I would not be here without them and I truly appreciate all that they have done over the years to create and nurture the knitting community and I hope I am able to fill that role and then some.

     The last 2 months have been the fastest of my life and are a bit of a blur as I have learned to figure out the store, my customers, running a store during a pandemic, setting up a Point of Sale system, and creating an online store. There is so much to do that it doesn't leave a lot of time to knit!

     If you have been in and seen me and our new changes and some new yarns, thank you. If you have not been in I would love to welcome you back. We are doing things differently to keep everyone safe. Only 5 people in the store at once, and everyone needs to be appropriately masked and we ask that you sanitize your hands as you enter. We are offering curbside pickup or mail order if you are more comfortable with that, this can be done over the phone or via our new website www.cashmeregoatyarn.com .

     I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones, that is one of the many things I love about owning a yarn shop!
