Crafters, take your marks! It's the 2025 Finish Along!

Crafters, take your marks! It's the 2025 Finish Along!

Do you have any unfinished projects? Do you have projects you've set down for a bit — or that have been in time out for for months or years (or decades?!)? Do you want to make a plan for what you want to prioritize?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, join us for the 3rd Annual Summer Finish Along at Cashmere Goat! The Finish Along (FAL) invites you to re-engage with those projects you've set aside, to take stock and inventory of your unfinished objects (aka UFOs) in a shame-free, FUN, and supportive space, determine which ones you still want to finish, and make a plan!

We gathered up our UFOs and left our starting blocks with in-store and online kick-off events during the first week of June. But it's not too late to join us — our 2025 Summer FAL will run through mid-September.

Finish Along origin story.
Summers in Maine (and everywhere) are busy, our schedules shift and the days are longer, vacations and visitors come and go, and it can feel a little scattered. For some folks it can be hard to focus on big knitting or crochet projects in summer.

The Goat Staff also realized that we had some projects piling up after a winter/spring of fabulous Goat Knit Alongs — and we figured our Local and Remote Goats did too. Not to mention those long-forgotten projects in "time out"! The FAL became our place to get re-engaged with projects we wanted to complete.

Find your motivation.
Unfinished projects can feel like a weight on our shoulders, one that we don't necessarily know we're carrying.

The first thing we suggest is to pull out ALLLLLLL those UFOs and make some priorities.

  • What do you actually want to give your time and attention to? What, of those UFOs, excites you? What would you like to gift or wear soon?
  •  Have you outgrown any of your UFOs? Are there styles or patterns that just don't ring your chimes anymore? (That's OK!)
  • Find your low-hanging fruit! Is there a project that is so close to being done that it's silly? Maybe you're 2.5" from the end of your second sock?! These types of UFOs can be really great for keeping your motivation up!

Guess what? You're in charge of your craft, so you get to choose which projects to finish, frog, or donate.

And when you sign up for the Finish Along, you'll get a free downloadable project organizer to help you plan and focus.

Joanne got the Finishing Bug!
Uh oh, it's catching — but in the very best way.

Last summer, Local Goat Joanne really got into the Finish Along and was finishing up more projects than you could imagine! Joanne had lots of projects to choose from as she excavated her UFOs from over 30 years as a knitter.

As Joanne experienced the satisfaction of finishing some of these lingering projects, she was able to gift some items and complete some for herself. And she was so happy about it! This kind of positive feeling is infectious — and it really helps to motivate the rest of us to keep on going.

The Goat's Finish Along community, like our Knit Along community, is what makes this so fun. We share in each other's accomplishments and cheer each other on.

Let's start finishing! Are you in?

When you sign up for the FAL, you'll get a couple of FAL emails per month with encouragement and tips, the downloadable project organizer (mentioned above), and information about meet-ups online and in the store.

OH! And did we mention we'll have some Finish Along prizes again this year??
